I stay at quite a few Red Roof Inns and I found this one exceptional. Fron the helpful staff at the dest to the physical appointments of this particular hotel - this one beat all the rest as a very nice experience.. Thanks for a very nice two night stay.
Room was nice, clean and beds were comfortable. Convenient to the interstate and nearby resturants.
I booke this hotel because it has a pool. I have 2 boys (under 12) who like to swim. After checking in and eating we went to the pool, the boys were very excited to go swimming. Both boys jumped in then my wife, she came up and was shaking from the cold water. The water in the pool was so cold that I had everyone to get out. So lets try out the hot tub, it was almost as cold as the pool. My boys were so dissappointed that they could not go swimming because the water was just to cold for them to stay in any longer. Also, while checking in the phone rang and I guess it was the clerks boss. I had to listen to her tell of how messy the lobby and desk area was when she came in to work. Guess her boss was more important than me, the customer.....
Everything is good or even better except for a breakfast. There are several cafes nearby (available only by car), so the breakfast is not really a problem. For example a breakfast buffet (delicious!) in Shoney's located in only 500 meters is available for only $6.5. The hotel definitely worths the money spent on it. It's a bit worn out, but still it's clean and the personal is friendly.
The breakfast is so poor that there is no reason to spend time on it. It's better to drive to a neraby cafe. We have found the list of recommended cafes and the directions to reach them right in the room! Having such nice places in only several hundreds meters from the hotel, I understand why the breakfast is so simple in the hotel itself.
staff was very nice, price was outstanding
The staff was very friendly and even offered to help me bring in my bag. I particularly appreciated that my "four legged child" was quite welcome and did not pose an additional charge. He is better behaved than most children.
The breakfast was very skimpy.
My mother and I were traveling from PA to TN and at 86 years old, my mother is very particular about where she stays. To keep within the budget, we chose this hotel. Mother really liked it. It was clean, comfortable, quiet, and we felt very safe...which is important to two older women travelers. We will stay here again. We found the staff friend, the room clean, and the continental breakfast to be more than we expected.
Hall way had smell of smoke.
Have used it sporadically for the past eight years as my daughter has been both an undergraduate and then a graduate student at Hollins Univ. We are probably done with the cycle but I have been very happy with the services. I also use a Red Roof Inn near Fort Wayne, in, occasionally.
We stayed after visiting Martinsville for the Nascar Race. It was right off the expressway. It was a huge room, I booked a King Business. Staff was pleasant. It was convenient to many restaurants. Incredible value.
The price was the big seller for us. We travel to the Roanoke area twice a year for race weekend at Martinsville.Best price in20 years.
You had to ask for you room to be made up,but for the cost we can live with thhat
Front desk staff was nice and helpful. Pricing good. Shower was powerful. .
The carpet was very dirty. The hot tub was just fixed the same day.It was not up to standards with the temp. The rail on it was very loose. Nor was the pool. warm enough.Cigg butts laying beside ice machine in doors.Found cake wrappers beside bed when the covers was pulled back.Musky smell throught out the hall ways. Every Red Roof Inn my husband and I have ever stayed in . the beds are so old and hard, even the pillows. Very uncomfortable!!!!!! Towels were very old and the bath mat was nasty and looked like it was dry rotted.
The room was very confortable for the price. We requested a room on the top floor and was given one. The young lady at the desk was very helpful and informative. We were greeted when we arrived and also as we left the next day to return home.
The convenience of the location was great. The room was comfortable and clean. We have family in Roanoke and when we come up there is not enough room in their home so we were looking for a nice Inn to stay for our visit. I definitely believe that we have found an Inn to stay. I would recommend that you place Kleenex tissues in the rooms, there were none in ours. We also think an update to your Continential Breakfast would better serve your guests.
I especially liked the atmosphere in the lobby area after hours. Nice music is played, fresh coffee is always available and it is clean. Our room was kept clean and extra towels were requested and received. Only 1 nite, a Friday, did guest noise above us and in the halls make it less than pleasant........but not the hotels fault. Breakfast was good, area kept clean & fruit was good quality each day.....appreciated. We liked the coffee machine that was fast & gave us options any time of day. Appreciated the cost of our room and will definitely stay there next time we visit Natural Bridge and Roanoke. Manager was friendly and interacted with us guests......liked that.
I did not like the pillows at all. They were very old, lumpy and very uncomfortable. I asked to have them exchanged, but replacements were just as bad. We were there for 5 nites and they were not easy to sleep on. Also would have appreciated some variety in the muffins served for breakfast. Since we were there for 5 days, it would have been nice to change them up a bit......same ones everyday. A small thing, but just a suggestion for long term stay guests.
Location to I-81 & Price
The hotel is easy to reach from the interstate. It also allows pets.
Our pet room smelled like cat urine. More significantly, the hotel initially charged us $25 more than the Booked.net rate. When I asked for the promised rate, the employee told me that I would have to call back the next day to talk to her manager. I then called Booked.net, and she told them the same thing. They then instructed her to call her manager, which is what she should have done in the first place. She showed me the corrected bill but never apologized for the mistake or the trouble she put me through. This hotel needs to better train its staff.
